We wanted to take this opportunity to again thank all of you for the successful passage of the operating levy on May 5! This victory stabilized the school district’s operating revenue and protected student programming from additional cuts.
The question has been often asked in our community: “When are we going to do something about our facilities?” Now that operating revenue has been stabilized—thanks to the hard work of the folks on this committee and the voters on May 5—district leaders are now able to turn their attention to facilities and explore the options. We checked in with them to provide an update to all of you to make sure our committee members are up-to-date.
As you are aware, several media outlets recently reported the possibility of moving the high school students and staff to the campus at Owens Community College (Sentinel article: http://www.sent-trib.com/news/rossford-considers-options-for-school-facilities/article_e623f09c-ffb9-11e4-8eae-8fac81de51cc.html). This potential move is one option that the district is exploring, but there is no signed agreement at this time. As options are explored, feasibility and data collection are part of the process. Some data had been previously collected, district leaders are adding to it and they are moving through the exploration process thoroughly to develop a plan to present to the Board of Education for discussion and community feedback before any formal action, or Board vote, could be taken on it. District leaders are working to complete this process as soon as possible, but there is no definitive timeline at this point.
Thank you again for your support leading up to and on May 5! We will keep you up-to-date as the school district explores facility options to move the district forward and continue the proud tradition of academic excellence Rossford Schools provides to its students.
We wish everyone an enjoyable holiday weekend as we remember all those who serve and have served this great nation and the freedoms it provides!
